Kitchen Design Trends

There are lots of kitchen renovation ideas out there but have you been wondering what the most popular kitchen design trends will be, for 2015 and beyond?  Minimalism, metal cabinets, and new finishes are among the trends you will see.  Take the time to visit the experienced kitchen designers  orleans, they have the training and tools to help you design the perfect kitchen.  Ask them for their gallery of kitchen before and after pictures to get a good look at their work.

1. Minimalism and the Use of White
White is making a comeback in our kitchens.  With the predominance of stainless steel over the past several years, the resurgence of white appliances makes for a refreshing change.  It’s also becoming very popular to have white cabinets to match the appliances.

2. Classic Wood
Wood cabinets are experiencing a resurgence.  Oak is especially prominent, and many different kinds of wood stains and grains are part of the trend.  Rustic and “shabby chic” tones resembling driftwood are also being seen.  Cherry wood is also getting a lot of attention.

3. Grey and Metallic Cabinetry
Like white, grey is one of the most popular neutral colours being used by kitchen designers in 2015.  Metallic finishes take grey to an ultra-trendy level.  Metallic paints are even available.  All of this information makes it possible for you to refresh your kitchen with only a couple of coats of paint.

4. Stainless Steel No Longer Supreme?
A fresh new look involves moving away from stainless steel in favour of other metal finishes.  An example of one of these newer looks is oil-rubbed bronze (and other warmer metals), while other less dramatic ones are chrome and brushed nickel.

5. New Sink Shades
There is a new trend towards having sinks that are white in colour, or another shade (other than the standard metal grey).  This trend works well with the move towards warmer tones of metal fixtures.

6. Open Floor Plans
As you probably know, open floor plans are now extremely popular.  This trend is expected to continue strongly in 2015 and beyond.
